Muy buenos días!
We are happy to report that Maya Traditions Foundation is now an official, government-certified 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization!
While we have been a nonprofit in Guatemala since 2007, being a non-profit in the United States is key to our mission and will support our growth as an organization. We are not in this for the money. We are in this to support indigenous female artisans as they work to strengthen their communities, earn a fair living, and preserve and promote the art of backstrap weaving. We are nothing without our artisan partners and this designation will allow us to continue to support them and develop new and exciting projects.
We also want take this time to appreciate and openly thank the Maya Educational Foundation for their partnership, guidance and support from the start. Apart from directly supporting us and our Youth Education Program in both funding and program development, they have made our work possible. For the last five years, Maya Educational Foundation has accepted tax-deductible donations and grants on our behalf. As we work to increase our presence in the United States, we are very grateful for their constant support of our work, and excited to see how our partnership continues to grow.
So please, now is the time to help spread the news! Maya Traditions is an offical 501(c)3 charity. Tell your friends and family, and please donate to support our mission. Your donation will directly support us as we work to trasition to a fully sustainable social enterprise, and support our strong education-driven social programs that work with female artisans to strengthen local communities in Guatemala.
