As a member of the World Fair Trade Organization “WFTO”, we rigorously integrate the 10 Principles of Fair Trade into our work across our cooperatives, communities, partners, staff, and volunteers.
We provide skilled artisans in rural communities with both economic opportunities through the sale of their handmade products, as well as access to our sponsored programs in education and public health.
We maintain consistent and open communication with all of our stakeholders and publish an annual report outlining our impact and success.
We sign contracts with all of our producer cooperatives and tailors, ensuring full compliance with Fair Trade practices. Additionally, we clearly communicate our expectations with retailers, customers, and other partners.
We pay artisans a fair wage in a local context at the time when the products are delivered. In addition to a fair wage we provide access to sponsored programs, which offer opportunities and significant value to the families of artisans.
We sign contracts and maintain strong relationships with our cooperative groups in order to monitor and guarantee a healthy and safe working environment.
We support women artisans who work in cooperatives with transparent and inclusive policies. Our process also provides formal opportunities for stakeholders to provide feedback.
As a result of the techniques used by our artisans, they are able to complete their work at home or in their communities and can establish their own schedules. This provides flexibility to our artisans to balance the demands of running a home and providing income.
We offer classes and trainings in literacy, language, leadership and small business and product development for our staff, cooperatives and partners.
We celebrate and educate our community and cooperatives on the principles of Fair Trade through ongoing events and training programs.
We use traditional weaving and dyeing techniques that do not required electricity, and use less synthetic chemicals. We also provide a medicinal herb garden to promote natural medicine and education to our community and cooperatives.
