The success of our work at Maya Traditions is made possible through the constant support of volunteers.
Here, we introduce volunteer Heven who is currently supporting our work in Guatemala:

Hola!

I am Heven Osborne, a 23-year-old “foodie” from Melbourne, Australia. At home I am an International Studies student from RMIT and potted plant entrepreneur (literally you name it, let’s try and plant a plant in it) my studies focus on social entrepreneurship, fair trade and community development. I am a visual person with a love for all things aesthetically beautiful. Coming from a tertiary background in design arts, I work to combine these passions in an attempt to empower communities through creativity, design and social entrepreneurship.

During my three-month internship with Maya Traditions, I will be working collaboratively in marketing and communications, extending our social media outreach and encapsulating the vibrancy of the unique organization. It is my first time here in Panajachel, Guatemala and my first impressions are warm and inviting. The culture is bright, the people are friendly and overall the community has an attractive feel to it. Over the course of my internship I am really looking forward to practicing my Spanish, connecting with local artisans and helping them share their unique work to a broader audience.

I hope to show people first hand the benefits of fair trade and sustainable workplaces, so please keep up to date with our posts and beautiful products!
